Jeffrey Tayler and Inna Shevchenko to speak at Atlanta Freethought

Jeffrey Tayler is a contributing editor at The Atlantic and writes a weekly column on religion for Salon.com every Sunday. He has written for National Geographic Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, the Smithsonian Magazine, Foreign Policy, The American Scholar, Men’s Journal, and Harper’s Magazine, among other publications. 

He is the author of 7 books, most recently, Topless Jihadis: Inside FEMEN, the World’s Most Provocative Activist Group

He has lived in Moscow since 1993. 

Inna Shevchenko, a Ukrainian-born political activist, the president of FEMEN International, and a contributor to International Business Times and Huffington Post. She is the author of “Humanism for Children.” She is also a renowned speaker, and her engagements have included the February 2015 Conference on Art, Blasphemy, and the Freedom of Speech in Copenhagen (attacked by a terrorist while she was speaking) and the Secular Conference 2014, held in London and supported by Richard Dawkins. 

Shevchenko has devoted her life to feminism and secularism. Persecuted by the Ukrainian government for sawing down a cross, she fled Kiev for Paris, where she has lived as a political refugee since 2012.

The 12:00 noon starting time is due to the social hour our members enjoy engaging in before the program begins. The actual lecture will begin at 1:00.
