Memorial Service for Ab Roesel

Cindy Roesel tells us the sad news that her husband Ab died on the 11th of July, 2018, in a cycling accident. Here are the plans for Ab’s funeral/memorial service on July 21st.

The current plan is to have a short interment service for which we will gather at 1 p.m. in Conyers, a memorial service from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at First Existentialist in Atlanta, 470 Candler Park Drive NE., followed by a reception/life celebration at reserved meeting space at Manuel’s Tavern, 602 N. Highland Avenue NE. which we will have reserved from 5 until 8 p.m.

The interment service is intended for immediate family, members of Ab’s cycling group, or those who can’t make the memorial service.

It will be a “green” burial at Honey Creek Woodlands, at the end of Susong Road, reached via 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA 30094, on the opposite side of Highway 212 from the entrance road to the Conyers Trappist monastery.

The interment site will be in a pine forest but with an adjacent clearing to gather in, so participants should be prepared for that environment. Good walking shoes will be required.

Ab’s body will be in a simple pine box, on which those present may write or post/paste items that are reminders of Ab’s life and concerns, or leave cut flowers.

The memorial service at First E. will be structured around readings of poems, singing songs Ab particularly enjoyed, and sharing of memories. Those with prepared comments will be listed in the service program. So if you intend to prepare comments, let me (Richard) know (rroesel3@gmail.com) so we can include you in the program.

After completion of the readings, songs and prepared comments, there will be an open period for memories of those who wish to be spontaneous or were inspired to speak by the service itself.

Would you please let us know if you wish to offer prepared comments ASAP?
